Disabling the HP Caps Lock Notifications

August 1, 2013

Simple and quick, when using VMWare Workstation on my laptop to lab various scenarios, it’s REALLY annoying to have the little pop-up/toast thingy flashing up all the time when moving the mouse outside of the window. It actually gets in the way of clicking things in the bottom right-hand corner of the VM screen.

So, the answer was found at : http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-e-g-Windows-8-and-Software/How-to-remove-caps-num-lock-notifications/td-p/932477

Credit to ‘Jim-Bo’ on there, who suggested the following, and this works straight away without a reboot etc.

To stop these toasts / notifications I had to locate:

hpCaslNotification.exe

which I found at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\Shared

I renamed it to:

hpCaslNotification.exe.bak

And now I don’t get annoying toasts every time I move my mouse in or out of my vmware environment :smileyhappy:

Many thanks for that 🙂
